Are the 80s making a come back in fashion?

It's winter time and in some countries the sunlight isn't something to worry about, maybe it is not the right time to talk about sunglasses… but, in case you are looking for the best option i'll show you the latest trend:

This past summer it's possible you've been able to see at the streets of your city (or in your holiday destination) this kind of glasses and you thought, are they back? I can tell you, YES!…the mirrored sunglasses are back!

A clear example that the fashion is cyclical (they are "so 80's")

Vintage is also a trend and if we go back to the beginning, when they first appear, i'm sure they were mainly targeted to boys (another trend) so we could say this kind of glasses combine perfectly all the characteristics to became a fashion trend that, we'll still see next summer.

Also called "iridescent sunglasses", they are inspired by the sporty (trend) style of surfers and snowboarders glasses but now we can find them in different shapes (ones more classy than others).

The fact that, when talking to a person who wears them enables you to see yourself on them, can make people hate or love them. Personally I found it quite funny and, as a famous blogger once said: "you can see the world in them".

Estilos años 80's...¿el regreso?

El tema de las gafas de sol puede que no sea muy apropiado para esta época del año en la que en algunos países a penas se pueden distinguir algunos rayos de sol a la semana… pero, igualmente tocaremos el tema.

El pasado verano, fueron una de las tendencias más vistas en las calles de la mayoría de ciudades del planeta, seguro que las visteis y pensasteis, ¿han vuelto?...

Sí,  este es otro ejemplo de una tendencia que vuelve posiblemente más fuerte que antes, y tal vez para quedarse...las gafas con efecto de espejo están otra vez "de moda".

Un claro ejemplo de que la moda es cíclica y siempre vuelve… gafas típicas de los 80's…

El vintage también es una tendencia que ha estado con nosotros durante mucho tiempo y si nos remontamos a los ochenta, cuando aparecieron las primeras gafas con efecto espejo, estoy segura que estaban principalmente dirigidas al público masculino (otra tendencia) por lo que podemos decir que este tipo de gafas reúne todas las características para convertirse en una sólida tendencia que durará muchas temporadas.

También llamadas "gafas tornasoladas", están inspiradas en el estilo deportivo (tendencia) de las gafas de surfers y snowboarders pero con diferentes formas, algunas más elegantes que otras.

El hecho de que este tipo de gafas te permita ver tu reflejo mientras te encuentras con una persona que las lleva, puede hacer que algunas personas las odien o (como en mi caso) lo encuentren bastante divertido…



Como dijo una famosa blogger una vez: "me gustan, porque te permiten ver el mundo en ellas" (video).

The days are getting colder and we are looking for the perfect coat that will keep us warm for the rest of the season. 

As most of the times finding a good one it's not very cheap, its common to look for something that you'll be able to amortize (typical thought when buying).

So what makes people think that the best option its a feather filled coat that makes you look like the michelin man? I've seen it at the streets and never get it.... why?

Fashionable item or not?

Some people think that wearing them is the only way to keep you warm inside and they say they don't mind about the look when you are freezing, but there are a group of people that really choose it as a fashionable item.

But, when does a coat that make you fat becomes fashionable?

The brand that has made models and famous celebrities look like if they really don't care about their appearance its Moncler.

Clothing brand that in the origin was targeted to the men public, and then started to offer the same coat for women. The problem is that for men to wear this kind of jacket its not so bad because it make them look bigger and stronger... but for women this is not benefit, women clothes need to have a different shape. Moncler knew it, that is why they try to change the design in order to stylized women figure... so they added a belt.

Perfect for rain, wind..and snow

In my opinion, the only reason why people who cares about fashion choose this kind of garment, with all the range of different and better coats that we can choose from, its because of :

1) the label...  and famous people wearing it.

2) because it's perfect when it's really cold, and not everybody is scared of looking bigger specially in winter. 

not precisely because they are pretty.

Cuando el frio llega... los plumíferos y el efecto muñequito Michelin:  

Los días cada vez son mas fríos y empezamos a buscar un esa pieza perfecta que nos abrigue hasta el fin del invierno.

La mayoría de las veces encontrar este abrigo perfecto no es tan barato y lo que buscas es que ya no solo te abrigue, sino que lo puedas utilizar las suficientes veces como para amortizarlo.

Pero... cual es la razón por la que algunas personas eligen comprase un abrigo que hace parecerte al muñeco de Michelin?? 

Cada vez que las veo por la calle me hago la misma pregunta y aquí mis conclusiones:

Objeto de Moda o no?

Algunas personas piensan que llevar este tipo de abrigo es la major forma de preservar el calor por dentro y al mismo tiempo beneficiarte de su impermeabilidad, y no se preocupan si les sienta bien o no. También existe otro grupo de personas que la eligen como prenda de moda y siguiendo una tendencia.

Pero... cuando una chaqueta que te hace ver gorda se convierte en una pieza "de moda"

Moncler es la marca que ha conseguido que actrices y famosas vistan de una manera más desenfadada usando sus abrigos como si no cuidaran su aspecto. 

esta marca al principio estaba orientada sobretodo al publico masculino y luego se extendió ofreciendo sus productos también a mujeres el diseño de sus chaquetas no era muy femenino y por ello incluyeron un cinturón que pudiera realzar la figura femenina.

Perfecto para la lluvia, viento o nieve

En mi opinión la gente que elige este tipo de abrigos tiene razones como: 

1) La marca y el tipo de personas que lo llevan (famosos). 

2) Porque te mantiene caliente en invierno y te protege de la lluvia y el viento (siempre y cuando no te importe tu aspecto)

En definitiva, este no es el mejor tipo de abrigo que puedes elegir, estéticamente hablando. 

The Beanie.

One of the things I love to do is to look at the street style pictures of models and people in fashion weeks… by looking at these pictures you can find out which are going to be the items that will turn into common trends the following season.

The trend

In the same line of simple things that have been always there and you never thought one day they’ll became fashionable items... We found the Beanie… a hat that use to be the perfect men accessory, is now essential in every fashionista’s that follow the sporty-classic-trend head. 

 The origin

But for the origins of this unexpected event that no one  (at least me) saw coming... I had to do a little bit of research …so I came with the conclusion that it may happened after the launch of this veiled beanie by Jill Sander.

From veiled to bright

As the origins of this trend imply a not so comfortable piece the “streetstylers” have chosen a simple version of the hat without the veil and most commonly in a bright color.

Me encanta ver las fotos de street style de modelos y gente en las semanas de la moda… mirando estas imágenes te puedes dar cuenta de cuales serán las piezas que serán tendencia en las próximas temporadas.

La Tendencia

En la misma linea de cosas que nunca pensaste que llegarían a ser "tendencia" encontramos el Beanie (nombre en ingles siempre queda mejor) el típico gorrito de toda la vida que siempre ha sido reconocido como una accesorio mas bien masculino, ahora se encuentra en la cabeza de toda "fashionista" que siga un estilo casual/deportivo.

Los orígenes

Para saber dónde y cómo empezó a llevarse de esta forma tuve que hacer una exhaustiva búsqueda de información de la que concluí que este tipo de gorro fue utilizado por el diseñador Jill Sander en su colección "veiled beanie"  que consiste en el gorrito mas un velo.

Del velo al color

Como los orígenes del beanie implicaban un velo, un elemento poco cómodo para el día a día ... las streetstylers prefieren una versión más simple del gorro de Jill Sander, pero siempre intentado utilizarlo siguiendo la tendencia con un outfit clásico y siempre que este sea de un color que llame la atención.

We could say that it’s too late to analyse camouflage style, as this type of print started to be presented in almost every fashion label at the beginning of last summer… This is a trend that comes and goes every certain time and that’s why the famous New York Times street style photographer Bill Cunningan captured it in the winter of 2011:

The origins of camouflage: 

Camo print came up as a trend targeted mainly to masculine public. The transition from men’s camo to women’s fashion may have occur through the “boyfriend style” trend (this trend is based in the used of men’s clothes by women) as it happened with chino pants (this note talk how II world war uniforms inspired the first pants of the 40’s and 50’s like those wore by Elizabeth Taylor).

This time camouflage has return giving a different touch to classic and boring styles.

 Around the world:

The international analysis of this trend should start in England and how British style has the need to be different and edgy, for this reason the are used to be more risky when wearing different prints and combining them finding in camo jackets an ideal piece of clothing to wear. Other European countries use camouflage trying not to mix it with other prints or brighter colours (in a safety way).

Is wearing camo a sign of attitude?

In television camo jackets have always been used to represent the image of bad boy. Are we trying to communicate a message with our clothing? Or just following the trend?

Lo de que las chaquetas de camuflaje son una tendencia no es una novedad, además ya todo el mundo ha hablado de ella (ejemplo).

Si, podríamos decir que ya es un poco tarde para hablar del estilo del camuflaje, ya que estos estampados empezaron a estar presente en todas las tiendas a principios de verano... Una tendencia que va y viene cada cierto tiempo y que el famoso fotógrafo de strreet style para el New York Post Bill Cunningham captó a principios del 2011 (fotos)…

Los orígenes del camuflaje dirigida al publico masculino: 

El estampado camuflaje es una tendencia que surgió dirigida al publico masculino principalmente.

La transmisión de las prendas de camuflaje para hombres a la moda femenina puede haber ocurrido siguiendo el modelo del "boyfriend style" (cuando las chicas utilizan ropa de hombre).

Como pudo haber pasado con los pantalones chino, en esta nota (link), hablan sobre el origen de los pantalones chino, que tendrían su origen en los uniformes de la segunda guerra mundial, que inspiraron a los primeros pantalones de los años 40-50, como los que lleva en la foto Elizabeth Taylor.

El retorno del camuflaje: 

Esta vez, el camuflaje ha regresado a las colecciones para dar un toque diferente a un estilismo aburrido, añadiendo un toque "rudo" o de color a un outfit clásico.

El camuflaje alrededor del mundo: 

Sobre el análisis internacional de esta tendencia se puede destacar principalmente Inglaterra que tiene como seño distintivo de su cultura la necesidad de los jóvenes por tener un estilo diferente, por ello suelen arriesgar utilizando diferentes estampados, y en las chaquetas de camuflaje han encontrado una prenda ideal. Mientras que en el resto de países europeos , o en las principales capitales de la moda, este look se lleva de forma más simple y siempre guardando un poco de respeto, conjuntando este estampado con pocos colores (de una forma más segura)

Llevar una chaqueta de camuflaje: ¿una señal de actitud? 

Llevar una chaqueta con estampado de camuflaje siempre ha servido para representar una actitud de chico malo en la televisión y en las películas.

¿Estamos entonces nosotros también, al elegir una prenda militar, queriendo comunicar algún mensaje?

O simplemente siguiendo lo que “se lleva”...
